Doubt if regular person need harem, many lovers want many free time. Plus even in our age some peoples with low morale has many lovers (doubt if it's considered as harem), gigolo and other.

@Akachi Na you make a good point about people with many lovers at the same time. A harem in anime/manga sense is having multiple suitors after you. So a young good looking man or simply wealthy older man (lol) who has many lovers to turn to has a bit of a harem in a way.
