I mean, I don't think corrupt patrolman would kill a young woman so quickly. If they were sadistic there are hundreds of other ways.

My guess is that the author felt that it was tired cliche that the guards would force themselves on her, but the fact simply is that in 99% cases of corruption to this level, they would force themselves on her.

It isn't cliche when it is purely in accordance to human behavior when it has cast away its moral restraints.
