If we assume that f(x) = k*x^a, where f(x) is the number of soldiers needed to defeat 100 orcs, then, given the conditions cited in the chapter (f(2x) = 3*f(x), f(100) = 100 and f(200) = 300), k ~ 0.07 and a ~ 1.58.

f(1000) ~3846
f(3000) ~ 21937

BTW, a single orc is a pussy, defeatable by 0.07 men. Even the red orc can be solo'd by a guy as strong as 0.39 average soldiers, as long as it's one on one.

I don't think he's got thousands of soldiers, though. He seems to have dozens.

If only he could persuade the orcs to attack in small batches! Three soldiers can take care of ten orcs, easily.

Yes, but like I said, I've calculated it. 10 orcs have the strength of 2.60 soldiers.

Yeah, I agree. I meant it in a "they're going to get the big city guys moving by giving them the weaker soldiers they have" + turning some of his current city's population into military" way.

(Also a random ability that boosts their strength because that's how it is).

I think the answer is going to be something along a alliance with the orcs to trade with them and/or stealing their food. If you cannot beat your enemy join them right?
