Dimensional Mercenary - Vol. 3 Ch. 99

Why so prideful? In full asshole mode just answer back: "Yes, thank you very much!" and buy the most expensive things

@silas62 I agree, or at least ask that he pays for himself at least. There is a difference between not having unhealthy pride, vs being spiteful.

I also think the dialog doesn't quite equate to the guy trying to demean the other, could just as well be him considering something as the norm and honestly asking if he misunderstood the level of wealth the other person has. Say he actually did consider the money as trifles, and honestly did ask if it was too much and if he should cover the financial burden instead - how else would he be able to make the question than by asking it straightly as he did?

The disconnect between the American "Just say yes, who cares?" and the Korean "Oh no, he's offering to pay how could he!" is probably cultural. I haven't quite figured out how that "face" thing works, but it's probably bad to say "sure I'll pay" and then go back on your word, even if someone offers. Or, maybe it's manufactured drama the author is trying to force. Who knows?

as an american I don't understand the concept of face well. But if someone I did not know insulted me while i agreed to pay for their meal I would get up and leave.

If workers have to be around the office at all times, THIS GYM SURE DOESNT LOOK LIKE THE OFFICE

Old Friend? So.. one of the ones who abandoned you and your family and didn't help in the slightest? With such a high salary? Why would you WANT to face him "proudly"

And yup, proven right. He blackmailed our MC into paying for dinner and then invited his shitty rich boss, who is now shaming our MC into paying for a super expensive meal. With friends like these...

I wasn't thinking and assumed that won and yen were equal, so 100 won is about 1 dollar. Apparently, 1000 won is around 1 dollar. I only realized this after, so I just assumed that this man order 1000 dollars worth of food, instead of 100. Still a dick move, but much less than I originally though.

I hate people like that, heck even when my family goes to eat out at a steak restraunt I usually order the cheapest thing on the menu when my parents pay and I usually force them to atleast let me get the tip. It really gets on my nerves when not only do they order the most expensive thing on the menu, but talk down to the staff and badmouth the food.
