Cron is the strongest fighter in the group, but strongest fighter doesn't mean best leader. I think it's for his own good that he is no longer leader, as under his leadership the most fighting he can do is ambushing some merchants.
Subeth might make the best leader in this situation, being able to handle Cron, but also willing to delegate many tasks to more competent members. He himself doesn'tseem to be too competent, but seems to be well-liked and much better figurehead if they want to reestablish themselves into mercenary band.
