Her ex is such a manipulative and selfish creep. It's one thing to make suggestions on style and such, but you can tell that's not really his goal. When he makes comments its about establishing control, trying to see if he can mold her to what he wants, without consideration for what she wants. He's not invested in the relationship but is trying to shift all the blame to her and put her down, another control tactic. If he makes her feel low, if he can convince her he's the only one who cares about her, he hopes he'll get his way. Though the way he did it was terrible, she's lucky he broke up with her. Guys like him can easily become abusers.
