If I caught the future-ex-boyfriend who I thought was going to betray me, playing with another guy to try to rile me up to make me jealous...
I would not then turn around and say, "actually I must have you". I mean, it would be a confirmation of everything I was afraid of. This is like the least-sensical plot device they could have used here XD
