@musul Imagine you're a guy working for Elon Musk in SpaceX. Your project just got canned and you're in a bad mood.
Some guy who you went to school with walks up to you and says "hey my engineering firm that I work at just developed a fully functional viable spacecraft that can bring passengers into orbit at a low low cost and is fully reusable, can you help me out?"
It's utterly preposterous that someone would have actually done that. There would be patents filed, papers written, people hired, and it'd not be a secret.
And no-one who actually did that with so much secrecy would ever say "hey I just did an amazing thing while keeping it under wraps, want to see it?"
It's not something believable at all. Sounds more like the MC would want to get into her pants by offering her something amazing and miracle like after stalking her and hearing her private phone call.

fine, she thought you were lying and trying to get in her pants. But at least she explained why she was angry and apologised for the outburst.
What did the MC do, didn't even listen to a word she said or that 2000s Pentium processor of a brain he has was unable to comprehend it. Well at least the author has provided a clear weakness of the MC, he is stupid and unable to listen or comprehend info dump in real-time.
Seriously, I just scrolled back up to see whether all that speech she gave was out loud and not her thoughts which would justify the MCs 'what did I do wrong statement?'
Even a future medicine is unable to over-clock that useless thing in his head. Can see plenty of anger-inducing face-slapping coming in following chapters just due to the MC being stupid.
If am wrong anywhere I apologise but just had to get that off my chest with how stupid he sounded. Hopefully(although probably wrong) they just have a working relationship but this(or that copied this one) is a blatant copy of the other and as such can predict how this going to go.

@Red225 bruh MC did not stalk her and it's her fault for being in a bad mood. If your project got canned. I would be desperate AF. It wouldn't hurt to check a shit possibility at all. No harm to her. The girl knows how the MC is. She's just uptight and stuck up man. She was looking down on her classmates as well so...

So... Considering the reality of drug development she's quite wrong... Finding potentially useful stuff is pretty easy and cheap, making sure they don't kill people and proving that in its therapeutic dose is what's difficult and expensive.
Taking a drug through clinical trials can take generally about 500 million to 2 billion usd so yeah, expensive stuff.
Promising new candidates on the other hand? Lots of drugs are actually initially developed by independent small labs, the ones owned by universities. University labs are publically funded and they do research on stuff that people may find potentially useful. Every now and then that could be a small molecule that is promising enough to put a patent on and get bought by a company, sometimes members of the lab will make their own startup company for that new compound. Unless this lady personally knows every lab in every university in at least the country and is keeping up to date with every single one of their projects, she should be sitting down and taking a look at what the crappy little private lab cooked up because it's plenty possible they struck something big.
