I think our MC is really stupid. His vehicle spins out as he jumps into the future, then says he didn't expect it to come with him. That brings up a few questions.
1. Why was he driving down the road when he used the ring instead of parking somewhere first? The vehicle could have easily killed someone, caused an accident, or at least gotten trashed.
2. How was he expecting to bring his supplies into the future if he wasn't holding them when activating the ring? He didn't expect the vehicle to come with him, so he would have left all his trade goods in the past for all he knew.
3. Why not put on the protective gear in the back of the huge SUV before jumping into the future?

Agreed. Big author failure there. The whole thing made zero sense. As you said, how did he expect the supplies to come with him if he didn't expect the car, too? And if he didn't expect the car to come, he was fine with having it just careening off by itself until it crashed into something? No clue why he decided to use the ring without parking first.

he is but as for the future part its still speculative, the translation says the "time that have not been" baidu translation said "the past"
i made it future since "back to the future" made it as a cool reference
