WAIT A MOMENT!!

The emergency quest gives 11,000 gald as reward.
But he only gets HALF of the reward because it is a quest with a rank he is not supposed to take.
So he can only get 5,500 gald from it.

The "normal" F ranked quest gives out 5,000 gald for collecting 10 special leaves.
And from this quest he receives the FULL reward.
If he collects more than 10 leaves he might even get an increased reward according to the amount of leaves he actually collects like 500 gald for every leaf.
Hence he could make 5,000 gald or more from that quest.

So why does he still need to go for the emergency quest?

Cute tutor is probably beat up from looking after newbies jumping headfirst into danger. I feel bad for her. Delicious dramatic irony.

@Talh I think the hyphen after the last zero means that it continues on. The 10000- is probably a lot more than just 10,000, otherwise he wouldn't have been so surprised.

"Ugh, I feel bad about slavery but it would be such a waste if I bought some and didn't get anything out of it, so let's use them for five years first and then set them free."

Ew. What a disgusting sentiment.

@Philinle so you want him to spend millions out of his own pocket and let them go for free? 5 years is quite short. He's basically hiring workers and even saving them from lifelong servitude.

@Philinle
I have to agree, why release them? Such a waste of resources. Even if they are debilitated you can still sell them to someone for human sacrifice (since I dont think organs are worth much in fantasy land).
It's a waste to just let them go. Damn, eating them and using whatevers left as fertilizer is still better than just letting them walk.

@Philinle Are you thinking Straight?
Why would he buy something and not use them and instead free them out right? Especially if he was to spend 100k to 1 million gold or to buy them?
5 years of servitude and free them after? That''s already being kind to slaves.
Others would have just treated them like a slave. Having S*x Slave to Work Slave to a Sacrifice for life.

@Philinle Are you the kind of people that will spend million of dollars to pay any stranger's debt for free? Probably not. Also, he plan to use the slave as a workers to build the village, not some kind of shady works like prostitution. Since it's only for 5 years, in a way it's even better than being resold as a butler or maid which is a lifelong contract like slave.

*sigh* I was hoping there would be at least a basic level of realism to how this manga handles slavery since it focuses on it, but apparently not. In addition to the secretive slave market making no sense(if slavery is legal), there's the ridiculous prices for female slaves vs. more useful economic slaves(modern sex slaves are more expensive than normal slaves, but that's because slavery is illegal, so economic use of slave labour is not possible. So if slavery were legal, skilled and hardy slaves would be more valuable than unskilled sex slaves) and social attitudes that make no sense since slave owners would be far richer and thus more influentsal than non-slave-owners(if slavery is legal). Heck, is slavery actually legal in this setting? The manga said it is, but it makes no sense if it is. It doesn't seem like it will explore the morality of slavery in an interesting way either. So, this will be just another piece of garbage fetishizing slavery?

@X3h0n It doesn't take much to fetishize the concept of submissive bimbos serving some guys every whim, sex sells and all that jazz.

@gaigous @firosahoge @yldDavid @Crywolf641 @Kiriha Then don't fucking buy the slaves. The situation is so stupidly, obviously contrived to just hand him a massive slave harem that it boggles the mind. Your intelligence should be insulted by the author, and here you guys are defending him with "well, it was appropriate for the setting" and "pragmatism" and "but there were good slave owners too" and "IT WAS ABOUT STATES' RIGHTS". Like, get a grip. This is an entire story revolving around literally the shittiest, seediest aspects of other isekai series where the protagonist finds slavery repulsive but then begrudgingly purchases/'saves' some of them and then they become devoted followers who, -of course-, immediately become willing to have sex with their 'not owner'.

@Philinle if you hate it so much don't read it? It's literally a story about a slave merchant class. Freedom after 5 years is practically employment though.

@Philinle Lol, I'm not defending slavery as a concept, an idea is just that, an idea. I consume fictional content to be entertained and titillated, a sexy slave harem titillates me, there are other works that are MUCH better at stimulating people intellectually but I assume most of us aren't reading things like this for that.

I fucking know right @Talh

If the high reward was stated the author could've at least stated the reason being something like nearby intermittent danger in the quest info
