@fianrt The dog picked up the infected rat in the previous chapter and accidentally ate some of these tapeworm eggs. These can stay dormant for years, so that's why this guy is only getting sick now (being exposed to his sick dog's poop). I'd say the guy with the deer is probably fine, since they weren't part of the chain of infection.
