Earth Recording 0001 - Oneshot

You mean satellite, or just call it celestial object if you want to be consistent with the Japanese term used (which I'm guessing is '星').

I hope there are no astronauts that would immediately speargun an alien on sight like that

@aikara considering that some people can be very dumb at times, I fear that there would be at least one astronaut who would try that

Before 2020 I'd have called that trigger happy astronaut plot point is too soap opera-ish, but in 2020 I'd call that on point.

In it's current state, this is a really good oneshot. If it were to become a full manga then It'd need several changes such as a different plot that'll last longer, something like the space agency finding out about the Io and attempting to track her down after she got back to earth in the MC's body.

Oh, and just as everyone else is saying in the comments, It's sad to say but I think what Nikolai did might actually happen IRL, so many people are ready to attack what's different to them.

@MajorAlexJackson i think it might have been changed since but it says its a satellite in the first page, and if it says its planet later it might be the alien saying it who i don't think would have knowledge like that considering it didn't even know about the sea and forests

@UnreasonablySaucyConcrete I don't think this is intended to be a longer story, and I think trying to expand it would ruin it. Not all one-shots are pilots for a potential longer series.

This was a very nice story, and really enjoyed it. I don't think it's a coincidence that Io's design was so similar to Mawatari's mother, and I wonder if that played a role in why he was so open to her compared to Nikolai. On that note, very odd to see the word "concubine" in a modern setting like this.

Excellent read. I think it being a longer oneshot is the perfect length so that the plot doesn't get drawn out or convoluted. Beautiful setup, gutpunch and ending in my opinion. Easily goes into my favourites for sure.

@Ironworks
100% agree, not a panel is wasted. This story reminds me of great sci-films like Ad Astra and Moon (2009 film) which deals with loneliness and love. Easily one of the best mangas I have come across in recent memory.
