Personally I don't like it when the author decides to divide his work in several parts, I see it as a clear way to make more money even if in the end he loses the fans who have followed his story so far.
That's why I put 3 as an evaluation, the story is interesting but if we have to wait for years (because that's how it will end) in the end we forget about this manga.

Sometimes a disagreement between the publisher and the author causes the abrupt ending. I remember when the "Negima!" series (Publisher: Kodansha, Author: Ken Akamatsu) all of a sudden went into "loose plot threads resolution mode" and ended in only a couple of chapters. The story finally came out that Kodansha was going to start distributing Negima! digitally and in other forms (like anthologies) and Ken Akamatsu didn't have any say in the matter per their contract for "Negima!". So Akamatsu ended the series abruptly to end the contract. His subsequent Negima! sequel ("UQ Holder") was also published by Kodansha, so I'm guessing Akamatsu worked out a better contract that allowed him more control.
