Even if she says no, its better than her lying and saying yes, when in truth she doesn't. Respect her honesty above the rejection. She saved you from getting into a loveless relationship. No time wasted, and you can look for someone that will love you. There are many people out there you know.

I think the biggest thing you should work on is communication. You and your significant other should be comfortable in discussing your feelings and problems with each other.

If you feel that they're acting distant, maybe they're just not sure whether they can confide in you, so it's best to make sure they know that they can talk to you. If you have good communication, you can avoid a lot of misunderstandings, help each other in hard times, and just have a happier, healthier relationship as a whole.
