We would all agree that Scenario 1 would be the most logical and realistic choice he could've made.

Coming back to these comments, it seems like y'all are dead set on him staying in the room and starving to death as a better option. Relying on "what if" scenarios about the water, and inspecting the clearly empty room for imaginary supplies that still wouldn't have helped him against OP enemies.
