@CptBst: Well, 'sake' use this kanji 酒. It's also the same kanji for the general term of alcoholic drinks.
Which is different to referring to alcohol itself (use kana), or beer specifically (also kana, ビール)
Basically whenever 'sake' gets mentioned, just assume they means any things that can get you drunk unless there's some description referring to actual sake (like in Moonled Journey, where Tomoe tries to recreate Japanese sake)
"sake" just means "booze", which can include beer, which they're drinking. It doesn't specify "Japanese rice wine". Pay attention when translating this word!
