I'm sure this wasn't in the original singularity but damn if that Gilles scene wasn't enjoyable at the end. His saber self is righteous, his caster self a monster, but the latter is merely the former broken into despair that led to his acts. While not forgiveable, the man he was before his caster self finally got to achieve his one wish to save Jeanne, even if only for this moment. It was a rather nice scene to read.
