Unlike nowadays, it’s quite common, if not standard for woman to have dress pockets in the past, if not, they have slits in the sides of their dresses that allows then to slip their hands into the little pocket like bags inside.

The reason ladies clothing don't have pockets is to force women to buy purses and handbags. It's a big fat scam to keep handbags a "necessary" fashion accessory so women will buy them and feed more money to fashion companies. That, and fast fashion traps where "fashionable" clothes are out-dated in six months or less.

Buy a nice dress, but no pockets? Buy a bag! You need shoes to go with that dress. Jewellery? Sure. A hat? Go for it! But now the new season's starting, time for a new dress! And the cycle repeats.
