@JWChibi if it helps, there's a time skip because Lady Yvette leaves at sundown, before dinner, and then hubby comes back after dark when (nearly) everyone is already sleeping. Plus the inkwell wasn't in its normal place. So she probably already borrowed it and wrote her letter and he caught her putting back the inkwell, not while she's trying to borrow it.
