This is my biggest issue with otome Isekai manga. At least most manwhas follow a certain structure plot wise, but mangas throw in whatever they feel like it and the result is developments like this that make no sense to the original premise: the whole point is she taking her death and living in reclusion til they need her again right, so why all this stupid drama when it should be her development as a person away from the court?


Is just frustrating sometimes.

I'm guessing Stephanie is the heroine of a sequel to the original otome game (I'd forgotten that this was supposed to be the world of a game) and she knows about the villainess because she was also isekai'd, so she's gone out of her way to eradicate said villainess and go for the capture target she wants. Whether or not that's the case, I agree that the build-up could have been written better.
