Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki

@lokithus

This might come as a surprise since you probably haven't seen them from up close but that's pretty tall for a girl lol, it's rare that I see such a tall woman even here in the US much less Japan I'd think we're the average is like 150 something.

This is how you write good slice of life romcom. Without retarded characters, dumb clichés, misunderstandings etc.
This manga as well as her other similar work Neko no Otera no Chion-san are rare cases where characters act like real people, be they students or grown-ups. Yeah, there are obviously some comedic situations and exaggerations but overall everything feels really natural.

Meh middle schoolers falling in love. Just two new loves nothing special but it an alright ride.

Not just tall but also thick eyebrows which is very rare in anime only other thick eyebrow waifus I can think of are Komugi and Chika

What a nice little love story. Really lovely watching the protagonists grow up a bit in their relationship. Kanba-kun really turned into a really good boyfriend. Their goofiness and awkwardness feels very believable!

Love this author's other works as well.

Chapter 58 and chapter 66 are 2 of the most best chapters of manga that I've ever read EVER, if you find this manga and come to the comments for guidance JUST READ THE DAMN THING, MASTERPIECE!!!!!

Fantastic read. What a breath of fresh air from typical tropes. The setting is 14 to 15 years old, so don't expect crazy intimacy. Instead it focuses on little things that middle school kids do (in a heartfelt, non boring way) and it really made me missed my former years

I only hate how perverted the MC. He's weird. I'm surprised he behaves like a proper boyfriend at times. The "Pervert" just feels extremely forced.
He's 14/15; he'll grow out of it. Frankly, this does a better job of portraying adolescence than most I have seen.

About halfway through and it feels like the author has never seen any tall people in their entire life. I mean just because you're tall or taller than most doesn't automatically mean that you end up with large hands and/or feet but I somehow feel like this was a hit or miss moment and kinda went with it either way.

Obviously I'm talking from a woman's perspective since guys tend to have large hands and feet (for the most part) either way.

Size wise it seems Kanba is closer to 155 while Fujiyama seems to be around 185-190cm when she draws them which only makes this weirder for me because it makes the whole short guy vs tall girl concept even weirder compared to say Lovely Complex which seems more realistic when they are drawn compared to this. I'm gonna have a wild guess that the author is a shorty herself. I mean the manga so far is alright, it's just the height aspect that's kinda messed up as presented to the reader.

Having just finished this I have to sadly give this a 6. Story and pacing was great (8-9) but the ending was trash. Hopefully her other 2 works don't end up the same because they're great as well.

This could've really used an epilogue of some sort. And it's like if she purposefully left out an entire volume (or more like 3) just because. A sequel would've been nice to sort things but we all know that's not gonna happen considering the age of this manga.
