Actually, I know someone who was more or less in the exact, yet reverse, boat.
Female, horribly abused by a father figure (and later a younger brother), grew up to be something of an utterly shitty, hyperbolically aggressive person who hated everyone. Blamed it on themselves cause they were born a girl for a long time before eventually moving in with some extended family.
They're doing a lot better now, though!
