There's quite a mismatch to the story regarding the flashback and the "current villagers" residing in that place. Why did our Mad Lad had to remind them of the tragedy that took place there which the "current villagers" thought didn't happen (resulting of only a few children surviving the slaughter, who got monster-fied later on anyway). I got a hunch that the "current villagers" were squatters in cahoots with the mad scientists, pretending to take care of the village while the children were sent for the drug experiments.
Also, just a little reminder of Cristiana's fate.

@Nakanowatari It was mentioned in the past chapters that the experiment monster could have been saved if they were given water, but the villagers still refused to save them. This and also the fact that they kill any traveler who entered their village and loot their corpse, the author is just adding more fuel so that the villager's upcoming torture to be even more sweet.
