If they never looked then maybe but I still don't consider that a reason to do the level of slaughter the MC enjoys doing a proper answer to the village itself. This serie burns its premise really fast and explains little to nothing about the backstory that its allegedly driving the "revenge" making the MC look more like just another deranged lunatic from the "bad guys" side rather than a man that was pushed towards revenge by those that wronged him.
