You repeatedly attempt to argue based upon the presumed or declared obviousness of your beliefs. That's just not good. It's actually quite possible to make cases for propositions that are genuinely obvious, whereas a belief that only seems obvious may be greatly mistaken, and hence impossible to defend reasonably.

I think that, in the end, you're left here with no more than a personal preference — that it's not the story would be a cop-out if the sister didn't have to pass-on; it's just that you wouldn't find it satisfying. You could likewise prefer that the werewolf die. *shrug*
