Unfortunately, that is usually not the case. Staying up late without extra payment is common practice in Japan, at least for the companies ruled by the Old. Their fucked up workplace mentality does work good for the progression and economy of the country, but at the expense of people's health and time, which is seen unreasonable more and more in the companies ruled by the Young.
Or so I hear. Don't quote me on that.
