@shiromeshi: Character growth, to sum it up. For the loser, to have them overcome barriers they didn't dare break through. For the heroine, to find the resolve to push through. For the MC, to realize being lackadaisical is really not an option. I'm being super generic here, but at any rate, the third one and beyond is designed to help other characters grow, even themselves.
