Man, I like the fact that the MC has plans to take action in case of multiple failures.
I'm wondering what the King has to protect the anti-magic thingy, he's too clever to leave it unprotected, but too paranoid to confide in someone about it. Could it be a machine or something?

I'd be very happy if they actually made the MC smart, rather than make everyone else dumb to make him look like a master puppeteer.
