@tinavy It also might have just been because of the times... back then, girls playing boy stuff was considered more shameful... and Asians care a lot about shame...

Remember, for thousands of years, humanity has been pretty vocal about what each gender can or cannot do...

I’m Asian and I know that some older people act like that (luckily my parents weren’t like that), but “being traditional” is not an excuse for buying toys your daughter obviously hated. They might as well just save the money since in Japan it’s not necessary to celebrate Christmas (it’s more for couples).

They use a holiday meant to make kids happy to force their education agenda on their child starting from when she was only 4, which is arguably worst than not getting her a present at all. I can see why she hates Christmas.
