GATE - Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri - Ch. 100

@Spoonikle
Even just a Chinook...
One or two gunners on a Mk 19 and they could clear an army.

Chapter 97 says the Chinook out to Cnappnuy wasn't armed, "not even a minimi or a doorgunner"
Mk 19s are great as long as you can keep them fed. They're great for blunting troop movements out in the open, but their ammo is bulky, heavy and always seems to run out at the worst time.
But on the bright side, they do have Itami and the girls.

it's refreshing that the empire at least give them a bit of tactical challenge by closing in their escape route even tho they have no firepower to back it up other than those bullet baits.

Hell yeah an update!
The empire isn't as idiotic as they seem
they just keep losing valuable resources/manpower because they have idiots leading the charge

welp, time to hold a position, cause as many casualties to the attackers and move positions. i really didn't think the inquisition was playing any roll in the empire post emperor son's takeover.

@xyzzy No, it is not. Perfidy (the act of deception by pretending to act in good faith and then planning to actually break that promise when they are in a more vulnerable position), however, is.

@SlurpNoodle

I'm personally amazed they managed to get those transport aircraft there in the first place.

You aren't only one. I believe there was someone in universe expressed the same thought. Answer? Reassemble the disassembled planes.

@HDMI1

I think there's no leak. Who in the right mind would side with empire if there can access that level of information?

It's literally as they say, "they are everywhere". You saw a few panels showing the empire move out from multiple forts.

@lenyek_penyek

They generally prefer to aim at the "triangle" formed by your head and shoulders. Easier to hit and just as lethal. Large caliber rounds have enough power to cause fatal injury from force alone, never mind penetration.

Although a headshot is 99.9999999999% fatal as the bullet obliterates it or bounce around on the inside if it somehow loses energy.

With all the skirmishes, it's a bit of a stretch that the empire has not got hold of any modern weaponry, assuming the JSDF already incurred loss several times.

@vangoz if you went back in time with 1,000 rounds of ammo for an AK-47 it will be a useless hunk of metal very fast. Not enough bullets to practice, not enough bullets to last long term.

At best, the best thing to take back and teach firearms in such a place would be the musket rifle. Even then the critical step is teaching them how to make barrels that will not explode on them when used.

I would say considering how far out they're pulling back they're gonna be on the run for a while. It seems the empire set up basically layers of ambushes to stop the extractions and have them close in one by one as each ring encounters the JSDF. That way they never miss them while they're retreating. They might have to split up and leave the prisoner along with a guard to be extracted while the main bulk continues to "retreat" to lead the enemy further away. Either that or they have to make it seem as if they are pushing further out while actually moving back to the castle where the Empire assumes they would not return to. Either way it's gonna be hell for them unless they get some kind of tactical support.

It's pretty funny, when you get a commander who isn't a scared, obedient dog to the prince.....he can actually come up with sound plans of actions.
It's still not enough to cover the gap in equipment and training, but against enemies of similar level this commander could have done some serious damage.

I confuse a little bit when a JSDF guy told "Archer" to shoot kobold head and just remember that they use servant classes from fate series as unit name, not litterally archer...
