@Gibbedboy I own a Mosin nagant that uses standard surplus 7.62 ammo will go through 1/2+ mild steel railroad tie plate and keep going at 100 yrds. My wifes 5.56 does the same so 2cm (approx 3/4 in) mild steel/hammer forged or cast iron will not stop it and that's not getting onto armor penetrating ammo.

Problem with plate armor is there needs to be gaps to move. Sure the front is armored up but what about their feet? one good mine or grenade later they're on their knees ripe for those huge gaps in the helmet to be filled with lead. Hell a flash bang on or very near the head and down they go.

That's also not considering the 2 cm thick iron plate isn't just pig iron, might deflect a few rounds but you'll punch through it within a 20-30 round magazine with FMJ. Hell if the snipers brought the more modern rifles to snipe with, a good .338 lapua magnum round will pop that tin can like shotgunning a beer.

Even throwing a tank round would be nothing but a waste of cash to kill those things. Just send a grenade to their feet with a rifle and watch them die in small fragment.
200mm or poor metal armor is literally nothing. A modern HEAT round goes around 450-600mm of penetratation easily, and cinetic round even more.
Hell even simple AP rounds around the end of WW2 had more than 200mm of penetration on their 75mm guns.

Also snipers could probably bring those huge target down in one shot I guess.

AP rounds could/would penetrate those ogre's armor. Do they really need to use AP rounds though? But I wonder how many bullets it would take to down such big guys?

Yeah, no need for tank rounds. There are so many ways the military would easily win against that in real life, even without the Gustav Recoilless Rifle or tank canons.

50 Cal and various 10 to 20mm Auto Cannon rounds will kill those orcs easy. It's what Scout cars and various light Vehicles and APCs use to kill each other and those vehicles are even more heavily armored than any orcs possibly can.

Even if a Metal Orc could survive that shet, the infantry don't need to play nice and use Fragmentation Grenades. What's stopping the Japense army from using Concussive High Explosive Grenades like the MK3A2? Or worse, what is essentially an upgrade, the Satchel Charge, which is intended to blow up buildings and disable tanks.

Or EVEN worse, why not have a tank or artillery fire a Fletchette or Ball stuffing round at the Orcs.

@ShinGetsu you underestimate the military use of ammunition as long as they got for "free" they will use it as it's surplus weapon so they could ask more modern weapons because old one have no more ammo. Like USA let old tank in Iraq like a landfill while building new modern one.

Hah, if I was Itami I would use the excuse "well when Rory was around I had a blessing, plus the help of Lelei La LeLena's wind magic helping me move it. Now that they are gone, I can't move it myself." or something like that. Of course I guess that might cause some other problems. if the soldiers attempt to push the "cart" and realize it's metal instead of wood.

I'm an idiot. Just noticed it was 2cm, literally 20mm of armor. I assumed 200mm/20cm because that would have been a decent protection. But 20mm is even pierced through by planes machine guns. Any .50 cals would rip those guys to shreds.

Would be fun if they decided to just napalm the army too.

Still a pretty decent countermeasure from him. Unfortunately that wont be enough.
