@alacaelum I am pretty sure empire alredy was falling apart with minor fractions gaining more strength and autonomy then desired (hense they were sent to Alnus slaughter). Also as far as I see Empire failed to establish unified culture (minor factions were very diverse) or integrate minor cultures for multicultural state (the prime example being other races on the empire's territory and bunny race specifically).
Basically, if it wasn't for leader's collapse Gate would've actually prolonged empire's life.

The author writes comedy so much better than this half-a**ed tragedy. I like Gate very much, but then I discovered DMZ and it just doesn't compare to it.
