The glass made if gold. Gold is soft metal. RMJ round would overpenetrate two layer of it and creating uncontrollable richochet. Hollow round just right. It penetrate first layer but shatterred (melted) on impact to second layer of the glass.

I more concerned about from where those shaped charge come from. Did Lelei or Itami bring it all the way? Or that just created by magic?

I doubt they used the cup fully out of gold and there were wine in it. What happened would have possibly been an exploding cup. At that point i think the round have lost the energy needed for a ricochet.

As for Lelei she used those cone thingy around her and put magic into it.

@CyBerK I don't know a huge amount about physics, but since it was a sniper, intending to stay hidden it could be sub sonic rounds they used which would have much less power from the start.
