Having just finished some dental work a few weeks ago, dentists have tools that can keep you from accidentally closing your mouth. It's called a "mouth prop". I find it's great as I can relax my jaw and not force it open myself.

Looking at Wolf's reaction, is the dentist not applying anesthetic before drilling? I find that cruel and unusual punishment. Even a dab of Anbesol to the cavity itself can dull the pain enough to make working on it less tortuous.

You know, tooth paste really does have abrasives in it, so I could maybe see using it to polish metal.
Actually, even just googling it briefly shows "how to" videos on using it for such purposes XD
