@alacaelum I, in the other hand, think its a pretty good way of thinking.
We all know that in any battle casualties may happen, but that doesn't mean its ok to just roll with it. Lets say you plan "Ok, we may have 3-4 casualties, but thats acceptable". And then you go and have 6-8.
But instead you plan make a plan for "no casualties", and got 1 or 2. You still lose people, but not as much as before. "Aiming for the best result while planning for the worse" I believe goes the saying.

@JuliusCV Hmmm, if i gave the impression that i am fine with a leader just accepting the death of their subordinates i can assure you i am not, i would prefer an optimist than this level of pragmatism because this would be just laziness. What i mean is that there is no plan that survives first contact, even in the situation that is happening in this manga were the JSDF has THE superiority, there can still be casualties like it already happened.
The Empire did use some pretty clever tactics, sure in the end, they failed (which we knew they would) but they did some damage, and this could be attributed to the fact that the JSDF lacks knowledge about the many types of creatures in this world, and which ones could be used in war and how they could be used.

Actually, if I recall, it's quite the contrary: she was issued (falsified) orders and tried to execute on them covertly and exceedingly quickly, only failing due to the presence of another force that managed to counter her.
If anything, aside from her action being classified as "aggression against the Japanese", as it was an order she followed even though she was doubting, I think her feeling right at home with that military crew actually fits the narrative.

@alacaelum It didn't bother me at all because my brain was still full of fanservice and Delilah's happy face after she got recognised by the troops. It was a good chapter. It was nice to see a non-rambo approach to a delicate operation. Nothing to complain about, really.

I guess she can be considered mass murderer if you think soldiers who kill enemy soldiers are murderer. With that itami and gang probably are the biggest murderer in the series.

Well this is an interesting, I thought they would gone in guns ablazing
but I had forgotten that there is a hostage in the middle of the town
not sure why the empire would even do such an act of provocation though
they know the strength of Japan's arsenal so this thing their doing just screams petty?
Personally I wouldn't parade the hostage we have out in the open, knowing they have long range snipers/machine guns
but then again, I don't know a thing about hostage terrorism and also their leadership is pretty fucking stupid
