The idiot prince has already kicked the other successors out, so while it is barely functioning, it would cease entirely if he died via acute lead poisoning.

As with the others I agree I love it when an Author adds 0.5 chapters, it always does add some fluff or expound on the world building of a manga. It's nice to get out of the pace of the main story from time to time to see how things are in the world.
