Genjitsushugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki - Vol. 5 Ch. 22 - Declaration of War (2)

considering from a military outlook you can expect at least half or more of the conscripted civilians to flee or surrender.....its safe to say them fools are screwed 🤣

This is actually basically the same tactics used by Sun Zhu. The main difference is Sun Zhu had part of his army break off for the capital, the opposing army chased, and then was encircled when Sun Zhu’s front (the side heading to the capital) and back (the side lagging behind) turned and faced the opposing army.

The capital was never the main focus. Sun Zhu just wanted to move the point of engagement to an advantageous point.

This is worse than Guy d'Lusignan's march towards Saladin. Hell not even Saladin was this thorough

Looming fear that capital city was taken.
Hurried soldiers with no food and rest from successful ambushes.
Non-military men reinforcements to bolster their ranks.

They cannot fight or worse the soldiers have no more fight in them. If the King orders to attack he may be gutted by his own soldiers and thrown to Souma as a surrender chip.

The exposition in this manga feels like it was aimed at younger audience.

This is a great novel but hopefully someone picks up the novel translation soon. Last guy to translate it hasnt updated it for a year and the one that picked it up from him either locked it behind a paywall or deleted the site or both.

If anyone reading this is a translator, maybe think about picking this novel up eh?

@evlbb2

Or you can go buy the novels from J-Novel Club, they're up to date with the japanese novels, working on the newest novel right now.

Saw this "twist" coming, but man is it satisfying watching cunts like them get jerked around and eliminated :p. Thanks for the chapter

@RudoRonuma
Not to mention that the army was forced to trample over their comrades stuck in the mud to escape the ambush, so that's an extremely sharp drop in morale plus heavy psychological scarring added to everything else.
