Genjitsushugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki - Vol. 5 Ch. 25 - Decisive Battle (3)

I've read the novel translation, and I remember this battle didn't take a long turn. Only a few dialogue and done.

If he doesn't want to be king, just turn the damn country into a republic. Just pick the right people to prevent from turning the country into either fascist or communist in the future or turn back into monarchy

@OP_Zed causing that would make it harder to fix the actual immediate problems the kingdom has been facing by making it much harder to introduce new policies.

Not to mention the chaos such a revolutionary change would cause. If he has plans to ever do so it would best be left for years or decades later.

King is a gender neutral title in some cases. Translation is fine
There's something related to this as a living example in England right now. The Queen is also the Duke of York, for instance. Not the Duchess, they left it as the Duke. The title itself holds enough significance that they would rather have a woman hold the "male" title than change it to match her, I suppose? There might be a couple of other examples like that in England right now as well, if not more examples if it happening in the past. I admittedly have shallow knowledge on this subject so all I remember offhand is the Queen also being a Duke.

@OP_Zed know what happened to the Weimar Republic? It is the first attempt at a German Republic. Wanna know what happened to it? It had so many Putsches (coups) because of the sudden change of the government and how inefficient and terrible the first republic was. This led to the Socialists. Communists, Nationalists, and later on the Fascist Nazis to take over. Though there were also other factors involved, the main one was the change from a Monarch/Absolutist government to a Republic.
