Genre exclusion and server upgrades!

But why is it that not all ganres get filtered correctly?
2 days ago, the filtration worked ok. Yesterday there were some instances of filtering showing me excluded content (oneshots).
Is it possible that somebody uploaded the doujin and manually named the type "oneshot" (in Chapter name) and/or didn't add the oneshot tag in "ganre" ?
Example: https://mangadex.org/title/32115/love-live-live-loud-doujinshi
I post to help, not to bitch about.

This is what I need. Please create those genres so I can ignore Chinese & Korean comics.
Exclude "webtoons" and you're pretty much okay. Not good enough? It's the same quality of advice that you proposed regarding someone else's Touhou "problem".

Since the update, When I go to my MDList and click sort last updated chapter, it is empty and gives gives me a msg "Warning: No results found."

totally not good enough... i still see e.g. Hunter Age (chinese) and some other titles on my updates page... webtoons pretty much only cover korean manga and serialized chinese manga is not a 'doujinshi' either, obviously...
what we really need is an actual filter option by country of origin... now, lets wait if they will really add that option later on...

Nah, i think we just need to add more Tags.
Manhwa for korean manga
Manhua for chinese

Also for those who have problem with touhou and random love live doujin , just exclude "doujinshi" and pray that the uploaders tag their upload properly.

Question: what kind of bear is best?

Is it possible that number of titles evaporated from database during relocation?

I was going to reread something, and it turns out it isn't here anymore ; tried searching by title, author and artist - entry's gone. It wasn't a duplicate nor part of an anthology.

Actually nvmind. Turns out somewhen along the world line, somebody tagged this oneshot as H. Still, that bear thing.

False. Black bear.

Ah, the long-awaited genre filter update. I'm sure lots of people were waiting for this. Kudos.

(I probably won't be using it though, because I wouldn't want to miss out on anything.)

@josephgomes619
@Suisuigo No need for Manhwa and Manhua tags, the original language filter covers that. We already have far too many redundant tags.

I don't think it work that way. If the manhwa itself is translated in English (most of them now), no way can ignore them in the update page.

More tag is more good. There's no disadvantage about it.

In that case we will miss lots of good web manga like Relife for sure.

No you won't. Japanese webtoons makes about 10% of all webtoons here. If you count entries with uploaded chapters, it's even less.

False. Black bear.
That's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought.

Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica.

The language filter only applies to translated language and has no bearing on the original language.

Still seeing some shoujo mangas on the frontpage even though I have the genre filtered.

@Jazz9 The demographic genre tags are deprecated, not meant to be used. The demographic field and language of origin field are going to be added to the filter at a later date.

Are you going to add a filter button to filter single, individual series at some point or you haven't decided or looked into that yet?

The genre filter feels too broad, but I guess the filter button would be a pain too because users would have to filter every single title they don't want to see manually by pressing the button, but at least it would only filter series the users don't want to see.

Thanks.
Would you please add the filter feature to the https://mangadex.org/updates

edit: sigh, another forum with formatting issues, I have a space after "the" and before "https://mangadex.org/updates".

Looks like excluded genres doesn't affect whats in the Top chapters/Top manga lists on the front page, at least the last I checked it.

This is by design. It would be pretty weird if it did.
