Everything is in chapter is a gag based on how cliche it is which might explain how rushed it otherwise seems. Explanations aren't needed because the reader is expected to recognize the motivations of the characters (and the ways they're twisted)

This doesn't explain why the friend characters is suddenly in love with Katagiri though.
