The whole point of tracks is to lay a road beneath your road wheels so that the ground pressure is only affected by the tracks. Did they really design those wheels to decrease the ground pressure between the road wheels and track?

It seems the extra wheels were more about rubber-tyred wheels and the poor quality rubber. Once steel wheels were implemented the amount of roadwheels would be reduced.

But it still seems to be correct that guesstimates were used, and the interweaving wheels were added on suspicion rather than fact. (Only it turned out they guessed correctly on wheel quality.)
And as everyone says, from a road perspective, wheels don't matter a lot (at least as long as there's wheels along the whole track).

if Tank Mechanic Sim had taught me anything, having to repair the Tiger and Panther's interleaved suspension does make me want to do a lot more than scream "GERMANS!". you have no idea how many times i had to backtrack because i forgot to derust a spacer that's behind a wheel that's behind a wheel.
