While I get why Sugimoto was so protective, I'm really glad Shiraishi made him realize he was coddling Asirpa and started to trust in her abilities more. After all, she's so mature already, and it's important to let her do what she wants and just support her in that. Otherwise he'd just be like everyone else, pushing their own values and motives onto her.
