Now every time I see an animal (other than dogs) in Golden Kamuy, I'll expect it to be killed and possibly eaten in some way... it makes sense given the time and place, but still tough (and admittedly brilliant) especially when you feel like something was built up over a chapter only to have it all (desperately) taken away from you in a instant...
