Well now. I'd say given their usual ineptitude they might be better off calling an ambulance and the police and risking the consequences, but then who is going to pay for Aiko's medical care? And for that matter, would there be any outcome where they wouldn't be separated? Only the rich or the police themselves can kill someone and get away with it.

They're not in the wrong, so far as I'm concerned.
But then that doesn't really matter to the police. If you kill someone in self-defense, or even defense of another, you'll still get arrested and suffer legal consequences for it.
