PKM probably wasn't the best choice. Maybe he was more familiar with the design, but this is where a Vickers gun or a Browning M1921 would be useful. Maybe a QF 2-pounder with HE shells.

Actually, he is presumably hand making all of the ammunition, so bigger shells aren't really any more work.

@pen15ninja We have to think Mobility too, if they had time to set up a stationary gun would be better but they are not prepared or set-up so LMG's in this case are better, i would have prefered the usage of a highrate of fire LMG tho like a M249 or MG42. Even if i would love to see a 2pounder wreck havock

It's not a LMG, it's a SAW. And that piece of turd fails like once every 30 rounds with a dogshit accuracy of 5 MOA, means at 500 yard most of your bullets won't even graze a human-size target. And MG-42 is useless without 2 spare barrels and a supporter to help you change your barrel after every belt. High RoF only makes your gun more prone to failure. No trained soldier would fire at cyclic rate, and no one should, especially untrained personnel that doesn't know how to deal with jamming.

What they need is not a higher RoF MG, but a tripod. PK on tripod can effectively provide a sustain rate of a HMG. Attacking a fortified HMG nest is pure nightmare fuel for any soldier.

@instant_noodle while I disagree with your statement of the Shaw's ability and prone to jamming, which it will do if not maintained (I once was one triple feed and watched as an armorer had to pry the rounds out), I agree that it wouldn't be the best in this kind of situation. Maybe something more along the lines of an M60E would be better.

Remember guys, while the gun looks and might seem to be based on what you know (or don't), it's a gun made with a material that doesn't exist which can be made stronger and more "perfectly" than the best in our world. So while you might be right about the real thing, this isn't the real thing, but only "based" on it.

So you should all stop trying to argue on what's a good or bad choice, when it comes to the weapon made with a substance that doesn't exist for real and especially when magic in involved.

its an anime thats full filling a fantasy. no need to get too into it. as much as I would rather have the MC make better guns, its just that the mangaka likes those guns more, and so ofcourse he'll make them "perfect" in his manga.
