I was thinking about it and I'm kinda confused on
why the father said he has to die before she's 20. Why didn't he at least attempt to travel back with her and get advanced medical attention or die in his own timeline

The art for this is crazy good, sometimes I’d just stop and stare at a panel for how beautiful it was! I’m not usually into historical stories but this one is interesting; despite some trite tropes the story is engaging. Not a new favorite, but I’d still recommend!
