Is this chapter a reference to a similar scene in the Fighter in the Wind? Or did Rui just want a sword fight and a couple of fantasies about the bloody Misora? Anyway, thanks for the chapter!
P.S. It’s rather ironic to hear attack from Rui-sensei on narcissistic “scientific explanations”, but okay, I’ll just pretend that I didn’t see this, lol.

(Which one is talking? The assassin or Misora? from the text it seems Misora, but before the dialogue you can see the memories of the assassin, so it can also seems he's talking about himself...)

I spent hours staring at the dialogue on page 18 for that very reason. I was banging my head against the desk trying to figure out whether the dialogue was from the assassin or Misora's point of view. You're right about the flashback! Since both of them had flashbacks to their parental figures giving advice, it was difficult to know whose caption it was. I ultimately went with Misora for the time being, because then it flows into the next page better- and why would the assassin be reluctant to kill? I'm gonna sleep on it and see how I feel. Thanks as usual.

The reason I think you translated page 18 correctly is because if you didn't, it would be literally the only part of the chapter where we heard an inner monologue from the assassin. Although we did get a brief flashback from the assassin, he's otherwise portrayed as having no thoughts of his own up until he expresses his discontent with having been seen as "aroused". All other inner monologues are from Misora.

Not sure about swords specifically, but with firearms there is something called the Tueller Drill, in regards to engagement distance. Basically if your attacker is closer than 20ft or so to you and you're not already unholstered and ready to fire, then you're going to get stabbed or grappled, and this is without the attacker having any special skills or training.

"Killing her isn't good enough." "I want to see her beg for her life."
But the thing that really caught my eye is the text at page 3:
"I found him at an orphanage, and raised him since he was ten." "He will kill anyone with a single word from me."
Then at page 18:
"My father's words are absolute" "They have been imprinted on my life"
Those refer to the flashback's dialogue: "This man's requests are like my very own."
Also, would Misora really say something like "My father's words are absolute" "They have been imprinted on my life" in that situation?
I'm happy to have been of help, still that dialogue was really tricky, I also had to read thrice to get it right.

There are plenty of training videos demonstrating it, but people can cover ground a lot faster than you might think. Drawing and aiming a firearm takes longer than you'd expect for the average user, but I'm sure there's some variance. It's basically a guideline to remain aware of, and to not discount the danger of a knife just because you're carrying a gun. And of course even if you do fire, you're not guaranteed to hit your target, or incapacitate them immediately.

@blackice85 So, all these scenes from karate / kung fu films, where the MC easily disarmed nearby enemies, are not so far from reality? However, I heard that cool guys like commandos are taught to shoot very quickly and without aiming, perhaps partly because of such things.
