Isn't 100 years a relatively brief time period? Depending on the living standards of that world you might have elderly people who were alive at that time.
It doesn't seem enough time for so many generations to pass and the creation of the kingdom to become myth unless the NPCs are really bad at keeping records or they have extremely short lifespans.
