Hanebado! - Vol. 12 Ch. 56 - Win or Lose

I like the pacing in this chapter, feels much better than past ones.

Also Connie best girl and I want her to sit on my face and break my neck

Oh, come on. Nobody plays like that. Enough with the cool-anime-pose badminton :D
And in the end just like I predicted earlier, contrary to how the mangaka desperately keeps wanting to match Ayano up against blonde opponents who he equally desperately wants to portray as invincible final bosses he can't get it over his himself to portray Nagisa as a real challenge to Connie.
We're supposed to believe Ayano needs to fight a demon lord instead of an ordinary talented badminton player in order for us to be able to cheer her on, but we don't need that for Connie?
Worse still, while what made Connie so unique a creation at first was her inner turmoil, now just like with Ayano the mangaka seems determined to pretend that earlier Connie never existed and portray her as a one-dimensional fan-servicey always smiling trope.
This manga has gone downhill ever since Ayano and Nagisa's amazing match. Every match since then has been a big load of nonsense and cool-anime-poses while the story skimmed over the matches. And it's only getting worse. It really seems like the publisher strong-armed the writer into focussing less on the matches and changing the fun story-telling for heaps of fanservice. The second part of the anime was heaps and bounds above this trope-filled tripe.

@Pachka84 It's a neketsu. What did you expect?

The characters have to put everything on the table in a spectacular manner, or it's no fun.

This kind of manga is actually sponsored in Japan by the various federations. To attract new young people.

I think its about time i just stopped reading. None of these chapters have been all that interesting and i think the story's been bad since Ayano vs Aragaki. Aside from that you already know Aragaki is gonna put on her plot armor again to face Connie.

I just dont understand why the author has to make everything about having fun. I feel lile realistically anybody would want to win over "having fun with rivals :D" At this point it almost feels like Fairy Tail with the "nakama" crap. Thats just what I think though. Hopefully other readers still enjoy it.

idk. connie telling her to just stop, even if it's to help aragaki bc of her knee situation, is just condescending? and her spewing on about having fun or loving badminton. this feels weird.maybe i still think of her as the mean and rude person she was introduced as lol. rip me then.

that brother is cute tho.

@STCT The Japanese are a collective nation that idealizes the achievement of a result together. Of course, most of their media will somehow raise the topic of nakama \ tomodachi \ shinyuu and the like. With the same logic, you can enjoed Russian literature and at the same time every time complain about the overwhelming amount of sacrifice, philosophical agnst and religious references.

@Kirin-kun That is, Japanese sports federations really support such works? I am pleased to hear that!

Hnnnggg Connie looks so damn cool!!!!! all the time lol
Also I've heard this manga is reaching it's climax, so yeah... Is still great! I would never watch a second season in anime, maybe if they re do everything as movies, I think these girls deserve it.

I wish I were there, considering all the matches happening simultaneously.

@SuperOniichan It's not always the case, but sponsoring a manga is part of recruitment campaigns there. They may contact an editor and depending on their need, some author may take on the challenge on writing a manga. It goes for games of Shogi, Go, Karuta, etc.. too.

The reverse can happen too: if they notice a manga about their sport that has some success, they may use the characters in their campaigns.

The manga industry in Japan is huge, with a lot of reach toward the young.

@Kirin-kun So, when Captain Tsubasa events were held with the participation of the Japan Football Association, was this not a unique case? Wow, thanks for info.

What was with the random panel of two of the girls studying and one falling asleep?

This manga has a bad habit of just jumping all over the place.

the brother is real.....i thought its just her mind making up this "brother" figure and the story made it as if the brother is real because we're on Rui mind (i guess im just thinking too much of it) lol

I thought her brother committed suicide because of her or something (glad he's alive and well)
