im hoping not its one of the main reasons why im still reading the manga to see if the ending is different but we'll see

I don't know, the anime ending was in tone with the story. It's not a silly SoL with CGDCT, it's more a very dark yuri with very few light heart moment. I did want the manga finish on a more good note than than the anime but you can't deny it fir perfeclty the manga.
